On 18 May 2026, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology and Soletanche Polska signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening relations between the academic community and the geotechnical industry, as well as developing joint scientific and educational initiatives.

The agreement was signed by Professor Ewa Wojciechowska, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology, and Tomasz Korab, Technical Director at Soletanche Polska.
The partnership covers cooperation in the fields of geotechnical and hydraulic engineering, with a particular focus on scientific and implementation projects addressing current engineering challenges. An important element of the collaboration will also be the development of innovative soil-cement technologies and the improvement of design and construction processes in underground engineering.
The cooperation also includes a broad educational programme dedicated to students and young engineers. Planned activities include diaphragm wall design workshops, thematic competitions, technical site visits to ongoing construction projects, and scientific and educational events aimed at combining theoretical knowledge with engineering practice.

As emphasized by Tomasz Korab, Technical Director at Soletanche Polska, cooperation with universities is a key element in the development of modern engineering:
“Many years of experience have shown that only by combining academic knowledge with practical construction experience can modern construction truly develop and future engineers be effectively prepared for the challenges of the industry. This synergy directly translates into the quality, safety, and durability of completed projects. At the same time, this cooperation is a great honour for us, a significant responsibility, but also a tremendous source of motivation and excitement. We are proud to co-create initiatives that have a real impact on the development of young engineers and the entire industry.”
The agreement aims not only to deliver joint research projects, but also to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry and to enrich students’ education through experience gained from real engineering projects.
The joint initiative of Gdańsk University of Technology and Soletanche Polska marks another step towards building lasting relationships between the academic community and the construction industry.
